From getting started to growing your business, here are a few things you might be wondering about joining The Wander Network.
No previous travel industry experience is required. We welcome both new and experienced travel agents, with training and resources to help you build your business. Bring a willingness to learn, serve clients, and put consistent effort into growing your business.
Yes! You can build your travel business alongside another job, family responsibilities, or other commitments. This is a fully remote opportunity with flexibility to organize your schedule. You’ll still need consistent time for training, marketing, researching trips, and supporting clients—including being available when travelers need assistance.
Firsthand travel experience helps you make thoughtful recommendations and understand what your clients need. You don’t need to have visited every destination, but you should be well-traveled or willing to travel and keep learning. Curiosity, destination research, and supplier education all help you become a more confident travel agent.
No—you don’t need thousands of followers to get started. What matters is your willingness to learn, show up consistently, and build trust with potential clients. Our social media course and workshops help you develop those skills. Social media can support your business alongside referrals, networking, and relationships within your community.
Building your own client base is an important part of being a travel agent. We offer limited lead opportunities for eligible agents who have completed the applicable training and certifications, but leads are not guaranteed. You should be prepared to market your services, build relationships, and actively grow your own business.
This is a strictly commission-based independent contractor opportunity, with no salary or hourly pay. Depending on your membership plan, you receive 80% or 90% of the supplier commission earned on eligible bookings—not the total trip price. Payment timing varies by supplier. Once Wander receives and reconciles the supplier’s payment, eligible commissions are processed on our every-other-Wednesday payout schedule.
Absolutely! We welcome experienced travel agents looking for a supportive community, ongoing education, and fresh ways to grow. If you have active bookings with another host agency, reach out to Shannon and Kellie before making changes so we can discuss your situation and the next steps for joining Wander.
